For accommodation in Utrecht, see http://www.visit-utrecht.com/en. For people attending both the Symposium and the Workshop, we recommend moving to Utrecht on March 17.
Amsterdam is more expensive than Utrecht; it is also about 1 hour by public transport from Amsterdam to the university campus in Utrecht, and very busy in the morning rush hour between about 7 a.m. and 9 a.m.
Utrecht is relatively small and there is good bus transport from the central train station to the university campus, so any hotel in the centre of Utrecht should be suitable.
